Horse Adventures - Photo Exhibit 2017
In April, 2017, thirteen of my favorite wilderness horse photos will be exhibited (and for sale) at Terrace Art Gallery. They're all framed in handmade barn wood frames crafted in Terrace. It's an honour to exhibit them!
Along with the photos, there are two fully tacked up handmade wooden saddle horses - a lead horse and a pack horse - plus a variety of other items to compliment the 'horsey' theme.
The Theme: Horse Adventures
I’m passionate about exploring the wilderness on horseback, and love sharing my horse adventures with others.
From an early age, my parents dragged my siblings and I out into the wilds, immersed us in wilderness adventure stories, and offered me the opportunity to ride horses. Those experiences have shaped my life and values, and every year I choose to follow the foot and hoof prints of First Nations, explorers and large mammals through wilderness areas on horseback.
Many people will never see the magnificent vistas, unique wildlife and wondrous flowers that fill these spectacular areas, so I feel it’s important to share my adventures though photographs. I hope these photos will allow others to be inspired by wilderness, and perhaps encourage viewers to live their wilderness dreams or experience a horse pack trip of their own.
The Photos
The exhibited photos were selected for the larger stories they tell, and for their broad appeal. They’re a small portion of my portfolio and are well suited for:
Photos were taken in Grasslands National Park, crown land near Jasper National Park, Spatsizi Plateau Wilderness Provincial Park, and Willmore Wilderness Park. Display pieces were hand-made locally from regionally sourced wood. The tack that is displayed is my own, and is used on my horses.
Pricing
When you buy my photos, you are supporting the Terrace Art Gallery, plus your neighbours, friends, and other Canadians. Prices reflect the costs of printing, framing and gallery commission. Photos were printed in Canada by Photojack ($30 - $60 each). Frames were hand-made locally from regionally sourced and milled western red cedar ($30 - $60 each). Terrace Art Gallery commission is 25% and included in the price of each piece. We all appreciate your support.
