Muskwa-Kechika Pack Trip
This was a two week guided (a first for me!) pack trip through the wild and remote Muskwa-Kechika Management Area (MKMA) in northeast BC. There were 23 horses, 6 riders - two of which were friends of mine - plus 3 wranglers, while Wayne Sawchuk led the way. Wayne has been exploring this country for about 40 years and was integral to the development of the MKMA, so it was a real treat and honour to travel with him.
We started at Mayfield Lakes on the Gataga River then rode east across the Rocky Mountain divide to Tuchodi Lakes. The weather, horses, food and people were all excellent. The scenery was spectacular, and the country was as wild as I've ever experienced. The story (there's always a story) was published in Canadian Horse Journal magazine in spring 2020!
