Badger Pass on a 9 Day Solo Pack Trip
Well, this was my fourth attempt at Badger Pass, and it was a success!
Jewel, Sven (pack pony) and I did a nine day pack trip through a portion of Banff National Park that I (mostly) hadn't seen, including riding over Pulsatilla Pass - possibly one of the most beautiful in the park. Then over Badger Pass, which at 8,800 feet is one of the, or possibly THE highest pass in the Canadian Rockies that horses can travel over. Then we went through stunning Flint's Park, north up the former Cascade Road, across the Panther River and turned west up the Red Deer River to it's source. We travelled about 150 km in 9 days including 2 rest days, had horrendous bugs and terrific weather. For more about this trip, check out this article in Canadian Horse Journal magazine. |
