Crossing Morocco
This was a four week guided trip with 8 other riders, walking and galloping 875 km across Morocco in January and February (right before the world shut down due to the coronavirus). We rode from the western Sahara Desert near Merzouga to the Atlantic Ocean at Plage Blanche, in 23 days. And what an adventure it was!
I rode a small, spicy chestnut Arabian stallion while the rest of the group rode Arabian geldings and Berber-Arabian stallions. Suffice to say, there are many, many stories, of culture, language, geography, and life experiences not to be forgotten. It was a terrific group, and once-in-a-lifetime experience. The story of this trip was published in Canadian Horse Journal magazine's Canada Equine Guide 2021 issue as Across Morocco: From the Sahara to the Sea. |
